Grateful for All of Our Spring Chaos

The past few weeks have been spring chaos around our house. Don’t worry. There were no fires or life threatening emergencies. Alan was out of town for two weeks. He traveled all over the place and had his own cool adventures, to include meeting a group of Rosie Riveters from World War II and ringing the gong at the European stock exchange, Euronext. But this chaos isn’t about him. It’s about me over here, eighteen years into parenting, still struggling like a fly in a spiderweb. Last week, I was wriggling all over the place. Things kept happening the past […]

10 Encouraging Bible Verses for When You Need a Pick-Me-Up

Do you ever feel knocked down and in need of encouragement? Maybe you need a few encouraging Bible verses to get you through the day? You open your Bible hoping to find just the right motivating words to help you go on, but you aren’t sure where to look exactly. I have a few I’ve collected over the years I’d like to share with you today. When my husband Alan went to Iraq the second time, I was left with a two-year-old and a one-year-old boy to bring up on my own for fifteen months. And by the way, I’m […]

Our Beloved Pastor Kevin Corey

“Did you have a good day at church?” I asked my twelve-year-old son on our way home, about a year ago. “Yes, I did. I always do. Pastor Corey is the best children’s minister ever. And I would know because I have had a lot of them!” He’s right. Our moving all over the country every couple of years means Daniel has had several children’s pastors. Daniel went on to talk about what makes Pastor Corey great. He is so funny, and he tells the Bible stories well, so everyone listens and understands. He was kind and fun to the […]

Day 24 of the Decluttering Challenge: Outdoor Storage

For day twenty-four of the thirty day decluttering challenge, we are tackling those outdoor storage areas. Full disclosure, I do not like cleaning out a shed in the cold, so I picked out four storage bins that are air-tight and plastic (so I knew there were no critters aboard), and brought them inside to work on. You may not have a shed, but this could be any storage area. It could be a carport, storage room, attic, garage, or whatever you have. If you have anything other than outdoor equipment in your outdoor storage shed, then you are in my […]

We have lost a true lady, leader, & member of the Greatest Generation, Grandma Cunningham

Recently, Alan’s amazing grandmother passed away. I never know whether it will offend people if I write about someone they loved or if it could help them. So I go back and forth in my head a million times about whether or not to say anything. It’s a whole tightrope I walk, not always knowing exactly what I should or shouldn’t do. But then, isn’t that the way for everyone sometimes? My husband gave me the go-ahead to write about this stately, talented, one-of-a-kind lady, who we call Grandma Cunningham, Grandmother, or just plain Grandmama. Everyone outside of the kids […]

What we can learn from Jill Duggar’s new book, Counting the Cost

Have you seen the media’s many shock headlines about Jill Duggar’s new tell-all book? I was tracking the release of Counting the Cost for several months before it came out. This was one I knew I had to read! (If you do buy it, use one of my Amazon links. I am an Amazon affiliate and collect small advertising fees). Back in the heyday of “19 Kids and Counting,” I was a big fan of the Duggar family as a whole. I read Michelle’s book, watched the show, and wrote articles about what I learned from them. Despite the family’s […]

When You Don’t Know if You’re Moving Or Not

There are, unfortunately, times in life when you don’t even know if you are moving or not. It reminds me of a few lines of Dr. Seuss. “I’m sorry to say so, but sadly it’s true, that bang-ups and hang-ups can happen to you…” We are indeed in that dreaded place, “the waiting place, for people just waiting.” If you do not know these Dr. Seuss references you must read Oh, the Places You’ll Go! ***When you purchase through Amazon links on my website, I do collect advertising fees. But seriously, at least check that book out at the library.*** […]

15 Helpful Self Improvement Quotes Straight from the Bible

When it comes to inspirational quotes on things like self improvement, character, life choices, anything like that, I think your best source is straight from the Bible. Think about it. Who do you want your life to please? Yourself? Your sister? Or your judgy neighbor? Your parents? Or your kids? It cannot be done. We cannot live to please all these people we know. Only we know our own whole story. Only us, and God. All we need to please is God. Well how do we even do that? In what ways to do we even need to bother with […]

Exciting Progress on My New Blog, as Well as a Few Setbacks

Today I want to tell you all about the progress I am making on my new blog, the good, the exciting, and the discouraging news too. We are officially entering the second quarter of 2023. There has been such a huge learning curve for me on all of this. For years, I was turning away blogging work, and now that I WANT to make money, I have zero offers. That is just how the cookie crumbles sometimes. I know if I buckle down and write, and I BUILD another awesome blog space, the opportunities will come. For now, they aren’t […]

The Time Saving Mom Book is A Useful Resource

The Time Saving Mom Book Review This week I purchased the brand new book, The Time Saving Mom, by New York Times bestselling author Crystal Paine. I bought this book because it fits my interests and the niche of this blog perfectly. One of my favorite things to do is read about how to make my life better. I like to read a million tips and then maybe only actually do two of them. Ha! Do you do that? I ordered the hardback version from Amazon and carried it around the house with me. Me carrying this book around was […]
