Best Day Trip Ever: The Friends Experience in D.C.

The Friends Experience is in Washington, D.C. in 2022 from March through June. It’s in several other cities this year too, and I’ll tell you more about that below.

Last year when I went to New York City with my cousins, we were hoping to do the Friends Experience, but we were short on time. Then I found out that this thing travels around the country. You don’t always have to be in New York to enjoy the Friends Experience. I’m going to tell you exactly what to expect, to help you decide if it’s worth a day trip for you.

What is the Friends experience, you ask?

Well, let me tell ya. It is just the funnest thing for a Friends fan ever.

The Friends Experience has a whole bunch of the sets, in pristine condition, and you get to go in there and take pictures.

You get to sit on all the sofas from the show, the recliners in Joey and Chandler’s apartment, and even Monica’s kitchen. Central Perk is there too!

They do let you hold the cups. The one in New York City has a real, functioning Central Perk where you can order stuff.

They even have the hallway with both of the apartment doors as well as outfits and iconic props from specific episodes.

Not just selfies.

Since The whole point is to see the sets and take pictures with your friends, there are photographers stationed all over the place. They take your camera or phone and take your group photos for you, so it’s not just a bunch of selfies. I also liked that they use your phones, so you don’t end up having to buy photos from them. This service is covered in the ticket price.

Ya’ll, they even have the “pivot” sofa and the eighteen page letter that Rachel wrote to Ross!

There are lots of bonus infographs like this.

Coordinating groups with timed tickets

If you have a group of friends going, it is actually not a big deal if your timed tickets aren’t all for exactly the same time. We were worried about this, but it was not a problem. Nonna and I had tickets for 12, and Caleb had a 12:15 ticket. Well, Nonna’s plane was late, and then D.C. traffic happened. We didn’t get there until closer to 12:20. I’m one of those people who get very stressed about tardiness, but they let us right in.

I dropped Nonna and Caleb off in front of the building, and then spent another ten minutes acquiring a parking space. The Friends Experience people could not have been more accommodating. They said Caleb and Nonna could wait in the gift shop area for me to get there, and then they let us all go in together. Such a relief! I guess they are used to dealing with lost and late tourists.

Masks

They did want us to wear masks to go in (when we went in March 2022). Once your place in line makes it upstairs, everyone of course takes off the masks to take photos.

So where all can you find the Friends Experience this year?

You can find this in Denver, Washington D.C., Phoenix, and the flagship in NYC. Go here for the full schedule.

You can go here for tickets. And this is not at all a sponsored post. This was so fun I simply had to share. Highly recommend for all the Friends fans!!
