Best 10 Shows to Watch on Amazon Prime When You’re Stuck at Home with Covid
Yes. I have the covid. Over two years our whole family made it without catching the rona, and on Mother’s Day it got us. It has been taking us down one by one ever since, moving through the family.
It’s not too bad except for this fever. Fevers are how my body handles disease.
Life is funny.
I am the fourth in the family to catch it, so Alan and the older boys have already gotten over it and gone back to their daily lives. Now I get to have covid while also not sharing my germs with my youngest two sons as they stay home with me all day. Isn’t that fun?
I’ve shut myself in my bedroom, and I’m watching lots of television. Sure, I’m also trying to write this blog post. Every few minutes the fever wipes whatever thought I was going to write from my brain.
This will not be the first fever-driven post I have written, so you know, enjoy the madness.
Here’s a List of My Favorite Shows and Movies I’ve Watched on Amazon Prime during my quarantine!
Now listen. You have to watch these this year (2022) because these streaming services each only offer these movies for a limited amount of time.
#1. A League of Their Own
I laughed and cried at this move. I just love, love, loved it. Would you believe I had never seen this movie before? It’s from 1992. How had I not seen this? So good! Watch it with your older children if you are not in quarantine.
#2. Leanne Morgan: So Yummy
Also hilarious. She is one of my favorite comedians ever. Watch it. You’ll laugh, and you will forget you have the covid. I’ve seen this whole routine before on Facebook, but I still watched it and enjoyed it. There’s something about watching shows I have already seen and like that is comforting to me.
#3. Chonda Pierce: Laughing in the Dark
Now this one is not all fun and games. This was made after Chonda lost her mother, her father, and her daughter quit talking to her. But yes, Chonda is a comedian, so there are a lot of comedy clips. It is funny in parts, and it’s very real life drama in other parts. It’s sad, it’s real life, and it will make you think.
#4. Love & Friendship
This is a good little fiction drama set in England in the early 1800s. I love this genre. I was going to say it was like a Jane Austen novel, and then I discovered that it actually IS a Jane Austen novel. That’s just more reasons to like it.
#5. Lula Rich
Ok, this one is a documentary about the rise of the company Lula Roe. I don’t know why this was so interesting and fun to watch, but it was. Lots of drama and leggings!
#6. Victoria
This is a whole dramatic mini-series based on the real life of Queen Victoria of England, and it is fascinating. There are three seasons of it on Prime, and I binge-watched it like nobody’s businesss. It’s awesome.
#7. In-Lawfully Yours
This is an adorable romantic comedy in the style of a Hallmark movie. I’m watching this as I type and am enjoying it so much. If you like Hallmark movies, you will love this one.
#8. Duck Dynasty
Only some of the seasons are available on Prime, but season 1, 4,5,6, and 9 are all on there. The other seasons can be found on the A&E app for your t.v., and those are all free too.
I can’t explain why I love watching Duck Dynasty. Wait, yes, I can. It is hilarious. This show CRACKS me up. Plus, these are southern people, and I am still Southern, even if I don’t get to live there anymore.
I laugh so hard at Si and Jase’s antics. Laughter is important in life. It is every bit as important as knowledge. I stand by that statement.
#9. The Chosen
This one is inspiring. This series follows the life of Jesus. It has such a good story-telling feel. Of all the portrayals of the Gospel story I have seen, and I know there have been many, this one is my favorite.
Alan liked this one so much he watched it a second time all the way through (it’s a two season series) during his quarantine.
#10. The Proposal
…Because I can watch all the chick flicks I want while quarantining alone in my room…. Ha!
Bonus shows if you watch before June 1st:
Sweet Home Alabama and Steel Magnolias are also on Prime through May 31st. You cannot go wrong with the classics.
Being sick ought to have some perks. Right? Extra t.v. time is what I consider the perk.
And if you find the covid depressing and don’t want to binge-watch Prime shows, check out my list of upbeat songs for when you are feeling down.
I can’t believe you never watched A League of Their Own before; I love that movie! I agree that you can never go wrong with Sweet Home Alabama, The Proposal, or Steel Magnolia either– I think I can quote almost all 4 of these movies by now. I also enjoyed Duck Dynasty a lot; Si is my favorite and for years my husband teased me about carrying my ice tea with me wherever I went.
Haha! You like sweet tea too? I was raised drinking it all day long. You have good movie taste. 😊 Long live the romantic comedy.
I think I would like to watch TV with you. I am adding some of these to my list.
Yes! Long live the chick flicks!
Another great one on Amazon Prime is St. John in Exile, from 1986. This is Dean Jones (from Disney’s The Love Bug and others) doing a 90-minute monologue. It is amazing! Alan would enjoy it, too!
Oooo I can watch it today! Thanks!
