Easy Brilliant Way to Organize Your T-Shirt Drawer
If you have a messy drawer full of t-shirts, you have come to the right place.
We are going to organize your t-shirt drawer in beautiful, tidy rows today.
The way I do this keeps all your shirts visible, unwrinkled, and rotated. This way you do not always wear the same three t-shirts over and over again.
Well, actually the unwrinkled part depends on how neatly you fold your clothes. Sometimes I get in a hurry and don’t do the best job. But if you slow down and do your fold/roll neatly, they should be nice and unwrinkled.
We moved into our current home almost two years ago. Unpacking is a lot of work, so we dumped our stuff into drawers, cabinets, and closets and got on with our lives.
Meanwhile, this messy, deep drawer of t-shirt chaos has been bothering me the entire time we have lived here.

If you’ve been putting this off too, today is our day to organize. Let’s go for it.
I am using the same system I use for my other drawers and my closet. I basically just fold my t-shirts and then roll up the fold. You can also do a Marie Kondo style fold , placed neatly in rows.
Rotating your clothes will change your life.
Rotate the order of your clothes by simply putting your clean laundry in the last row of your drawer. Then choose your shirt from the front row of the drawer, the first one you come to that meets your needs for that day. You will be amazed at the difference it makes!
#1. Save time and make less decisions.
This was actually the main reason I started keeping my clothes this way. I’ve never enjoyed decisions. When I was a kid coloring in my coloring books, I would close my eyes and reach into the crayon box. Whatever crayon I picked up, that’s what I would use.
With my drawers kept in tidy rows, I choose the very first shirt I come to that meets my needs for that day or night. No time is wasted on another dreaded decision.
#2. Your shirts will not wear out so fast.
Instead of three worn out shirts, the wearing is distributed throughout all your shirts so they last longer.
#3. You don’t end up wearing the same thing all the time.
When clothes come out of the laundry, they go to the last row. Then you just scoot the shirts forward as you go through them.
#4. You know exactly what shirts to declutter.
When a shirt stays in the front row of the drawer, it lets you know that you don’t actually like wearing that particular shirt, and you can get rid of it.
#5. The drawer stays tidy, so you can find everything easier.
Granted, I just started this with my t-shirts. However, I have kept my pants and shorts in this rotated, tidy drawer method for years. I love the way it works. It is easier than ever to keep my drawers nice and neat.
#6. This system will put you on the road to minimalism.
Most of us cannot go from thirty t-shirts to six overnight. It’s too overwhelming. You can see from my drawer photos and my video below, I am not a t-shirt minimalist yet.
I do think this organized t-shirt drawer, with the rotation method, will get me there eventually.
Once you’ve rotated a while, you are getting rid of the shirts you don’t want, so you end up with less shirts. Hurray for a more decluttered drawer!
My pants used to take up two drawers. After keeping them rotated for about four years, I have them down to only one drawer.
Ready to get started? I made a video of my process of organizing my messy t-shirt drawer.
You can do this for all of your drawers, not just your t-shirts.
The t-shirt drawer is one of my favorites because it does not have to change with the seasons. We never have quite enough space, so we have to change out many of our drawers and closets for winter and summer. It’s about time to do that again.
I keep my pants and my shorts/ ankle pants drawers in this same format. The only drawer I have never been able to keep organized is my sock drawer. In fact, if you have any helpful tips for organizing socks, I am all ears.
I hope this gives you some organizing inspiration!
