Free Printable Chore List for 9-12 Year Olds
This free printable chore list for 9-12 year olds contains blanks for eighteen chores for your kids to do. Plus, I am also including lists with chore ideas.
I created blank templates of the chore lists you can add your own as well. Each family has different rooms and tasks to do. I tried to stick to fairly universal ones for the list.
This list was originally created for my 9-year-old on notebook paper. I just dressed it up to share with y’all.
Last night before bed, my youngest son asked me to write down a list of “23 chores” that he could do to make some extra money. He is wanting to buy some more LED lights for his room. His room is a fun football themed bedroom that he spends a surprising amount of effort on, and it is adorable. I will have to share it on here sometime.
For JD’s chore list, I did not include his actual assigned daily chores, (feeding the dog and helping with the dishwasher), because those are his always jobs and he cannot get paid for jobs that he is expected to do daily.
***Disclaimer: when you purchase through Amazon links on this page, I do collect advertising fees from Amazon.***
I made a blue list and a pink one. If I handed JD a pink list, he would refuse to look at it. Sometimes, kids are funny like that.
There is a chore list in each color that is pre-filled out, and there are blank printable ones too. Print both or all four or pick one, or whatever you would like.
I also included a photo of what each will look like above the printable, so you can see it a little bigger and know exactly what you are getting.

Now I don’t know about you, but sometimes my printer just decides not to work. I got you covered there too.
Here is the original list that I wrote out for my son last night. I even have how much money he can make for each task. Granted almost all of them are $1.00.
My son, JD, had time to do one task before school this morning. And he is a smart boy. He did the vacuuming the stairs, because it was the only $2.00 payout on the list.
You could easily replicate this with your own chores that are more specific to your household with just a notebook and a pen too.
You can use these for any age. I broke them down into small tasks because I think that is best for this age group and for my children in general.
Also, I feel like I should explain number 12 on my notebook paper list.
Yeedl is our robot vacuum cleaner. It is the best one I have ever had. Here is a link to check it out on Amazon. The vacuuming part is amazing, on carpet and hardwoods. It even empties itself. I have never tried the mopping feature because that would require sitting down and reading the directions, and you know I am not going to do that.
I noticed there is a cheaper one you can get here that doesn’t mop or empty itself, and that saves you $200.
That is why there are not a ton of sweeping/vacuuming chores on the list I made. Yeedl covers a lot of that for us.
The cool thing about this age group is that with a little training, there is not much they cannot do.
This is a wonderful, capable age. They just sometimes need tasks to be broken down into small steps. For example, instead of saying “Clean out the van,” I broke that down to about three different tasks in the list above.)
More Chore Ideas for 9-12 Year olds:
-Clean off kitchen counters.
-Wipe down kitchen counters.
-Clean off kitchen table.
-Wipe down kitchen table.
-Set the table for dinner.
-Vacuum or sweep rooms in the house.
-Put new trash bag in the van.
-Unload the dishwasher.
-Start a load of towels in the washing machine.
-Move clothes from washer to dryer.
-Fold clothes.
-Cut grass.
At our house, the boys join what I call our “grass cutting team” at age 10. We have four children, so they are able to split the yards between them. With four on the team this year, that job will go quicker than ever.
Always allow plenty of training time when your kids are learning new chores. We aren’t born knowing how to do all these things.
I hope these chore lists help your family!

That’s funny. That’s happened to us before too.
#5 and #22 – great ideas I haven’t thought of – thank you! You pay well! I’m a cheapskate. However, mine turned a chore down there other day when they found out how much they’d earn so I may have to up their wages soon! 😂
