7 Fun Ways for Kids to Entertain Themselves
Very often kids need to find something to do, and John David is here to give you some ideas for how kids can entertain themselves. Everything below was written straight from my eight-year-old to yours. Only one of them (shopping) requires help. The rest are all things can do for themselves.
7 Fun Ways for Kids to Entertain Yourself
#1. Go shopping
The first way is to go shopping because if you do, you can find a lot of things you want or need. The same goes for your kids because you can get super fun things, like a mini basket ball hoop in your house. So if you’re bored you can play indoor basketball by yourself or with someone else.
#2. Play Outside
The 2nd way to entertain yourself is playing outside. Outside can be lots of fun when you swing, play sports, play with pets, swim, or sun bathe.
Sports are especially fun because if you’re like me they never get boring.
#3. Play with your pet.
The 3rd way to entertain yourself is to play with your pet because if your pet is like mine, you can get exercise. And your pet can too. Your pet loves outside, and so will you. So go outside, or stay in, and play with your pet.
#4. Play with your siblings.
The 4th way to entertain yourself is to play with your siblings. I have 3 older brothers and no sisters, so I can play a bunch of rough sports like tackle football, which is my favorite sport. You can tell because I wrote about when me and mom practice football. And I labelled tackle football first for when you play with your siblings.
You can also play board games, video games, or hide and seek, or anything else.
#5. Write!
The 5th way to entertain yourself is to write because that’s what I’m doing write now. Get it? Write now, right now. (It’s a pun.)
Writing can take up soooooooooo much of your day. I started at 1:00, and now it’s 3:40. I took a break in the middle.
#6. Read
The 6th way to entertain yourself is to read because it can be fun and suspenseful. Sometimes you find a book that is a mystery, and it’s a school assignment. And the chapter is like, “He came charging at him.” Boom. Chapter ends, and you have to stop at that chapter. Why do they like to leave us in suspense? Is there another chapter that does the same thing?
#7. Relax.
The 7th way is take a break and relax because you might have a lot of stress. Sometimes you just need to chill because nobody wants to listen to screaming and fussing. Like why?
There are so many other fun things a kid can do to entertain themselves other than these seven ways. I hope this list will give you a good starting place.

I know right?! If I had told my parents I was bored, my life would have been significantly less fun on that day! Great ideas!
Ha! Yep, that was just asking for chores!
This is VERY good John David! Great ideas. I really liked the ping pong ball video.
Thanks! It took a lot of days to make the ping-pong video. :). –John David
