Day 22 of the Decluttering Challenge: Dining Room

Today we are decluttering our dining rooms, just in time for Christmas. We are rolling right along in this thirty day decluttering challenge. I cannot believe it is already day twenty-two. My dining room is a busy place because we only have one dining area. In fact, I do not remember our dining room ever not being a busy place. Even when we had two dining areas, we still relied heavily on our “dining room” for doing projects, playing games, building Lego sets, eating, and doing homework. Focus on your dining room surfaces first, and then if you have time […]

Day 21 of the Decluttering Challenge: Cabinets or Shelves

Hey fellow decluttering friends! Welcome back to the challenge. Today we are decluttering cabinets or shelves in any room of your choosing. Most of us have plenty of cabinets or shelves in our whole house that could use a thorough decluttering session. Choose whichever one you think will benefit you the most. I chose the shelves in my hallway linen closet, so I say closet shelves count too. The other day I worked on my linen closet, but I was not finished with the whole closet. I was eager to put more effort in to get all of those shelves […]

Day 20 of the Decluttering Challenge: Your Worst Kitchen Drawer

For day twenty, we are decluttering your absolute worst kitchen drawer. Hey, everybody! Welcome back to the Thirty Day Decluttering Challenge. Thank you for hanging in there with me. I know thirty days of decluttering feels like a huge amount. When you pick your kitchen drawer to work on today, I recommend picking the most chaotic drawer that you use the most. Or just pick the drawer you can benefit the most from decluttering. If you have a “catch-all” drawer, go after that one. I picked our silverware drawer because it is the biggest drawer in our kitchen, and it […]

Day 19 of the Decluttering Challenge: Books

If you are anything like me, ten minutes on day ten was not enough time to get you through decluttering all of the books on your bookshelves. And if you are not like me, you may have a shelf in your closet or anywhere in your home that you have not gone through in a while. When I saw that day nineteen is decluttering bookshelves, I thought, “Cool. Easy job.” My shelves are fairly easy because they are full of nothing but books. There are not piles of paper on the shelves. Paper clutter is my personal nemesis. It could […]

Day 18 of the Decluttering Challenge: Linen Closet

For day eighteen of the decluttering challenge, we are diving into our linen closet. Whether your closet actually has linens in it or not, somewhere in your house you probably have a hallway or basement closet like this. It catches lots of random things, and they can get messy. My mom’s hallway linen closet is so much neater than mine. I can picture it in my head, nicely stacked and filled with beach towels, towels, toilet paper, and blankets. My closet is not like that. Mine is stuffed with medicines, toiletries, sheets, and it all looks haphazard. It is hard […]

Day 17 of the Decluttering Challenge: Your Kitchen Pantry

For day seventeen of the 30 Day Decluttering Challenge, we are marching right in to our kitchen pantry. You might be like me, and your pantry may actually be just a kitchen cabinet where you keep your food. In my mind, this was going to be a big day for us. I know for a fact that most kitchen pantries could use a thorough decluttering day. But my mind could never know all the sleep deprivation and urgent care visits this week had in store for my household. Don’t worry. We are all okay. My son is on meds for […]

Day 16 of the Decluttering Challenge: Your Home Office

For day sixteen, we are decluttering our home office. I don’t mean our desks again. I mean the other areas of our office, like the file cabinet, printer shelf, or any area where we keep office supplies. If this were not such a hectic day at our house, I could have done so much more. The 30 Day Decluttering list assigns today fifteen minutes of decluttering time. I had to settle for ten minutes of decluttering and five minutes of filing. The Christmas season is starting to truly crank up, and I am about already whooped. Are any of you […]

Day 13 Decluttering Challenge: 27 Fling Boogie for Your Desk

Welcome back to the 30 Day Decluttering Challenge! I hope y’all are having fun with this. Today we are doing a 27 Fling Boogie on our desk, or home office work space. Wherever you sit and do your computer work or pay your bills, that is where we want to focus. I wrote about this at greater length before. You can find that here. Today we are going to do that same task, but we are going to do our 27 Fling Boogie slightly differently. In my previous post, we put everything in one bag and sorted it at the […]

Day 12 of the Decluttering Challenge: Your Most Cluttered Room

Welcome back to the 30 Day Decluttering Challenge! I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving holiday! How is it going for you so far? Have you worked through a few of the days yet? I hope you will not feel discouraged or give up the idea because it is hard to keep up. I’m cranking these out in quick order to have these ready for everyone. Truth be told, I did not work through this as quickly as I am posting the videos. The first of these videos was filmed a month ago. It has taken me more than […]
