Day 26 of the Decluttering Challenge: Living Room Shelves
For day twenty-six of the decluttering challenge, we are digging into those living room shelves and storage areas.
This could be shelves, cabinets, drawers, hidden cubbies, or cube boxes (like I have). Wherever you shove your living room junk, today is the day to see what kind of decluttering you can get done in these spaces.
At our house, we keep two cube boxes on a shelf beside the t.v. In those boxes, we shove everything remotely electronic-related. Sometimes we put things that are not related at all, but we just want to get them out of the way. It’s too easy to drop things down into the box to clear off the other surfaces.
These cube boxes are the “junk drawers” of our living room.
In today’s video, I am not only talking about decluttering this living room area. I am going through my box with you. I’ll show what I am going to do with all this stuff and how I can store it all more neatly.
This was another decluttering job where I did have to dump everything out of the box. I didn’t dump it all at once though. I went through each item one at a time.
There are a few things I might be able to give away. However, I have to wait until the kids get home to find out for sure.
I actually made some revolutionary (for us) changes to that storage system in today’s video, and I was oddly excited about it!
If you need some ideas for what to do with batteries, charger cords, and video game supplies, check out today’s video.
The video also has what the “after” product looks like. Now I have to rush off today to get a kid to a doctor’s appointment. Happy decluttering, y’all!
Now all I have left is to ask the kids what I can give away! I did get one to confirm for me that the Switch Lite is not working properly. That is now on the chopping block.

Tomorrow is day twenty-eight, and we will be back in the playroom. I hope you’ll join me!
