Getting My Act Together’s Top 10 Posts of 2022
2022 was the first year for this blog, Getting My Act Together, and these were my most successful posts.
I started out 2022 with high hopes of writing every single week, and that went well for January-March or so.
Ha! And then the move happened. By move I mean our real life move, not just moving from storiesofourboys.com. Moving in real life was a much bigger inconvenience, you know? It was like, well, so much for “getting my act together” this year…
Once the move started, it was fairly impossible to keep up with writing of any kind. Then the dust settled and there is so much to do to get everyone settled into the new house. Besides managing all of our belongings and the organizing, there is all the emotions and learning new systems, and just…. bleh. A lot goes along with moving.
I wrote a few articles about the whole moving process. You will see a few of those in this list. Without further ado, these were my most popular posts of Getting My Act Together’s first year.
Top 10 of 2022
#1. Real Housewife Outfits You Will Love and Relate to
This is basically a week in the life of my clothes. Yes, sweatshirts are prevalent. I have some that are twenty years old. But I do dress a little better sometimes too. But this is what real housewives actually wear, just a fun post.
#2. 10 Ways to Prepare for Any Unexpected Disaster
I sat down with Donna, who is a true prepping expert. She gave me all the basics that everyone can do, even if you live in the city. If you are wondering if your house is prepared for any kind of emergency, check out what Donna had to say.
#3. 13 Important Texting Tips Your Teens and Preteens Need to Know
I have two teenagers, and there are so many things I make sure to tell them before I trust them with a device. This is the basic list of things to make sure your people know. It is not only safety tips. It includes etiquette tips and expectations too.
#4. 7 Favorite Things to Do When Life is Overwhelming
This one actually is related to the move. I wrote this mental health post on the arriving side of the move. We were in our new house and in the thick of kids’ sports and settling into the new house. These tips are practical and realistic and can be applied to anyone going through an overwhelming phase.
#5. How We Unpacked Our Whole House in a Week
Now I do NOT mean every single box. But I do tell you in this post exactly how we unpacked all the rooms so that they all looked nice and functional by the end of week one. This was amazing. It was the fastest we have ever unpacked a house.
#6. How to Find a House When No Houses are Available
If you moved in spring or summer 2020-2022, there was no way to escape the problem of the nonexistent housing market. Trying to find a home this past summer was a total nightmare.
#7. Moving Checklist for the Perfect Move: 2 Months Out
So yeah, as you can see, all I could think or talk about for a large part of 2022 was this move. I will have to save this checklist for the next time we move.
#8. 7 Stabilizing Bible Verses for When the World Feels Shaky
I guess if moving was the number one theme on my blog this year, feeling overwhelmed was definitely the second theme for the year. Soothing, stabilizing, and encouraging Bible verses were all important to me this year.
#9. Best Day Trip Ever: The Friends Experience in D.C.
Unfortunately, you can no longer find this exhibit in D.C. because it was only here temporarily. However, for 2023 you can still do the Friends Experience in New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle, or Paris. It was SO MUCH fun for any Friends fan. If you are in any of those cities, I hope you get to go.
#10. A New Life Hack for 2022: The Monthly Reflection
This post was actually my personal favorite for the year. Not only did I enjoy writing it, but I NEEDED the joy and benefits that came from doing the monthly reflection. Doing my monthly reflections and monthly planning sessions was a big part of how I survived the move.
I would love a little feedback for next year.
