Why Car Trips Feel Like Eternity to Kids (by Kid Blogger, JD)
Car trips feel so long to kids because there is always someone who keeps on farting.
Another reason why car trips feel so long is because they ARE long. Well, they are if you’re me, which you are not. But if your grand parents live in Alabama, and you live in Maryland, it takes 13 hours to get to Alabama, and 15 to where my other grandparents live.
That is even longer if you have a family with 6 people + a dog. It feels like eternity to get there, and there are so many other reasons why car trips feel like eternity.
Another reason is when someone has to pee 24-7, which is me. But that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t feel way longer that it actually is.
Another reason why car trips feel so long is every body has a stereotype:
- -the farter
- -the joke teller
- -the sleeping passengers
- -the noise maker
- -the sleepy driver
- -the dog
- -the person who always needs to pee
- -the starving
- -the gamers
- -the texters
- -the DJ
- -the complainer
- -the planner
- -the person who packs too much stuff
- -the person who acts like the car is home
If you’re thinking, “Why not use a plane?” it is because the time you have to wait at the airport lasts forever, and so does the plane trip.
You might have to wait until the plane opens. In the car you don’t have to wait for your car to open. But aside from that, there is nothing supporting car trips compared to plane trips.
Here is another reason why car trips last so long. Your mom and dad leave the car to get out and pump gas, and then your little dog starts having a mental breakdown. Whoever bought the dog, the dog loves that person because they gave them a home and take good care of them.
There is only one good thing about car trips. You get to have fast food and candy.

I absolutely loved reading this and now I understand my kids so much more on road trips! Road trips do last forever and someone always does fart and I am the frequent pee-er who makes us stop every hour! But I will travel by car over plane any time that I am able.

What a succinct way to veto the plane option. We agree, JD! Cars are the way to go. But the ride can be torture!
JD’s perspective is really funny on the LONG car trip! I’m guessing from his list of stereotypes that some people have more than one type! Wonder how many might deny their stereotype! It was great seeing y’all. I’m so glad you all persevered and made the long trek to Alabama!!
Thank you Janet! We loved seeing y’all. I’m really enjoying having another blogger in the family. My mini me turned out to be a little boy. He may not look just like me, but he acts a lot like me.
