Day 29 of the Decluttering Challenge: Bathroom

Welcome back to the Thirty Day Decluttering Challenge!

For day twenty-nine, we are working on a bathroom.

At our house, that means I’m decluttering the boys’ bathroom. When it comes to cleaning, a boys’ bathroom can be a hard job. However, when it comes to decluttering, it is the easiest job of all.

Actually, this particular boys bathroom is used by only two brothers. They keep their toilet shockingly clean. I just want to say that because I am as surprised as anyone. For sixteen years I have cleaned toilets used by multiple male people, and it is a terrible job. These two boys deserve some kind of aim award because they seriously keep it clean.

The boys’ sink is a different story. They are not so clean with their sink, and of course they never sweep or mop, so it is still a job in there.

But when it comes to decluttering, it seems like the boys hardly own anything at all.

Most of the stuff in their bathroom falls under the category of “household storage” or cleaning products.

Easy tasks like this are my favorite. If you have daughters or boys with lots of hair products, your job may be tougher. That’s how my job in the master bathroom was. For the master bathroom, I could only focus on one area of the room. That is why I only did the under the sink cabinet yesterday.

For a less cluttered bathroom like this one, you can fix up the whole room in only ten minutes.

I started with towel shelves, picked through the medicine cabinet and counter tops, and then headed under the sink. I tend to think in a top to bottom direction.

Head for your area that is most in need of decluttering first, since you may not get past that area.

Have a trashcan ready and maybe a basket for things you have to send to other rooms at the end of your decluttering time.

If you have any extra organizing containers, have them ready. I have run out of good organizing baskets and bins, so I may treat our family to those in the new year.

All right, friends. We are almost to the end of this, and Christmas is almost here! Let’s play some fun music and knock this out. Or play my video on the background and declutter your bathroom along with me.

We got this! Ha! There aren’t many things it feels like I’ve truly ‘got,’ but this we can get just fine.

Maybe once we finish this decluttering gig, we can move on to an organizing challenge!

I have just begun to think about this the last couple of days. It would be nice to get some pretty baskets and take my decluttered spaces and turn them into aesthetically pleasing basket-organized shelves!

Maybe we can do that in 2024. What do you think?

Only one day left of the challenge! We will do day thirty on Monday, and then I will take some time off for Christmas. I hope you get to take time off to enjoy the holidays with your family too!
